Principal's Message
Welcome to the 2010 - 2011 school year.  As we prepare for the opening of school on August 9, 2010, I'd like to reflect on some of the accomplishments from the 2009 - 2010 school year.  We set targets for growth across the board in all grade levels for Reading, Math, Science, Writing and more importantly student success.  We wanted to ensure that every child had the opportunity to be successful and have a well rounded experience academically, socially, physically and behaviorally.  We also wanted to ensure that all new students transferring in Nicholson or starting school for the first time had the opportunity to experience success and learn the hard work needed to be successful.  The results are staggering.

Student scores on our standardized ISAT test increased in Reading to 55%, Math increased to 82%, and Science increased to 52%.  We saw our percentage of students meeting and exceeding state standards rise to an all time high of 65% on our composite school score.  Finally, our percentage of students exceeding state standards in Math doubled to 25%, which in it self is a whopping and staggering increase.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank the teachers, staff, students and parents for making this past school year one of the best in the schools history.  Our growth and potential for the coming years has made Nicholson the best schools in Englewood, and one of the best schools in the City of Chicago.

Congratulations Rockets,

Rodney Hull
